With reference to your letter No. 1698/05/

c.8.0.Conf., dated 9th. instant, I have the honour to point out

that a similar procedure has already taken place in two instanc-

-es. Crown Rent of Lot 73 B was capitalized for $3,021.50. Crown Rent of I.B.L.64 (Mount Austin) was capitalized for $7,300.00,

and both these sums stand to the credit of the Colonial Govern an

-ment in the balance sheet on page 8 of the Lewis Agreement.

It was, therefore, assumed that a similar

action would be satisfactory to you in the present case, Ás,

however, there is an objection, I presume that the difficulty

might be met by crediting the Colonial Government with the

amount of the Crown Rent yearly in the running account (should

such be ultimately approved of by the War Office), in which

case the 20% thereon would not be lost to the Military Con-

-tribution.
